María Marhuenda Muñoz

María Marhuenda Muñoz is a PhD student, analyzing the effects of dietary polyphenols and carotenoids (antioxidants from the Mediterranean diet) in human metabolism. Ever since she can remember, she has had a big interest in understanding the world. She has been a scout since she was six and grew up exploring not only nature but also the endless ways in which people think, see their surroundings, behave…  Time passed and that interest in the world was focused on the functioning of life itself. This is the reason why she chose to focus on life sciences because it amazed her how much, but at the same time how little, we know about our own organism and its origin. She chose Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences as her bachelor degree because it merged two of the aspects that she was interested in: understanding the organism and helping people. She also holds a master in Nutrition and Metabolism because many studies are starting to point out its ability to modulate our metabolism for the better but also for the worse.
